SUMMARY:Construction of Fluorine-Containing Cyclic Systems Using the Properties of Fluorine Substituents
DESCRIPTION:Palestrante:  Prof. Junji Ichikawa  -Professor Emérito da University of Tsukuba/Japan\n\n\n \nAbstract: Pinpoint-fluorinated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (F-PAHs) and ring-fluorinated heterocycles, regioselectively substituted with one or two fluorine atoms, were systematically synthesized via In(III)- and Au(I)-catalyzed Friedel–Crafts cyclization and cycloadditions of fluoroalkenes (especially 1,1-difluoroallenes). A key feature of these reactions is the ring-closure step, which proceeds through α-fluorine-stabilized CF2 carbocations.\n\n \nProf. Junji Ichikawa. Research and Professional Experience: 1985-1991-Assistant Professor, Institute of Advanced Material Study, Kyushu University; 1989-1990 – Postdoctoral Research Associate at Department of Chemistry, Harvard University (USA) with Professor E. J. Corey;1991-1999 Lecturer and Associate Professor, Department of Applied Chemistry, Kyushu Institute of Technology; 1999-2007 Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, Graduate School of Science, The University of Tokyo; 2004 -Visiting Professor, Department of Chemistry, University Louis Pasteur;2007-2023 Professor, Division of Chemistry, Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences, University of Tsukuba; 2023-present – Invited Research Fellow, Fine Organic Chemistry Group, Sagami Chemical Research Institute.
